SONS (summer 2025) captures my children, who were nine and eleven yrs old when these pictures were created, over a five week period in the summer of 2025. I photographed them at play, fighting, celebrating grade school graduation, and quiet moments together and alone. But this mini-project is not so much about my sons inasmuch as it’s about me. A photographer I admire said that photography isn’t about making nice pictures, it’s about seeing your experience. I photograph because it helps me understand who I am and my relationship to the moments my camera captures. I focus on my sons because what other subject better reflects me…?
