About
Ricardo Gotla is a Seattle-based photographer whose work explores family, place and community. The son of a British father and Nicaraguan mother, he is a first-generation American whose photographs reflect a deep interest in the diversity, beauty, complexity of American life. Ricardo’s practice began in spontaneous street photography, shaped by walking, observation, and the search for the decisive moment. His work has since moved toward a more engaged and relational approach, grounded in conversation, presence, and connection with the people he photographs. Across personal projects, street portraiture, and commissioned work, he is drawn to the ways identity, memory, culture, and place are expressed in everyday life. His work has been exhibited in juried group shows at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland and Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle. He has studied with Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris-Webb and is enrolled in the fine art photography certificate program at Photographic Center Northwest.
