About
Ricardo Gotla is a Seattle-based photographer whose work explores connection, family, and how people inhabit public spaces. The son of a British father and Nicaraguan mother, he is a first-generation American whose photographs reflect an interest in the diversity and complexity of cities he has called home, especially Seattle and Brooklyn. Ricardo’s practice began in spontaneous street photography, shaped by walking, observation, and the search for the decisive moment. His work has since evolved toward a more engaged and relational approach, grounded in conversation, presence, and relationship with the people he photographs. His work has been exhibited in juried group shows at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland and Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle. He has studied with Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris-Webb, Richard Renaldi, and is enrolled in the fine art certificate program at the Photographic Center Northwest.
